SCOTLAND ELOPEMENT FILM PHOTOGRAPHER

HIYA, I`M LASZLO AKA WEIRDIE GRIZZLY

SCOTLAND ELOPEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER, PLANNER & GUIDE

I live in the Scottish Highlands, Scotland - where I feel most at home - and work accross this beautiful country to cover elopement photogrpahy in the Scottish Highlands and Isles.

My portrait was taken by Akos - my son - on the Isle of Skye, Scotland

WHY HIRE AN ELOPEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER WHO STILL SHOOTS ON FILM IN 2025?

For me, film photography is everything. My dad taught me how to take photos on a film camera back in the 90s. My first camera, an Eastern German Praktika, was my workhorse to practice with. Since then, I used so many fantastic film cameras in different formats (film sizes). After more than 30 years of shooting on film, I'm happy to go back to basics and document elopements in Scotland on this fantastic analouge medium.

SO, WHAT IS HYBRID ELOPEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY?

When I'm taking your elopement photos with both analogue film (35mm & medium format film) and digital cameras. I am still mainly a digital elopement photographer, but film photography also an important part of my workflow and life.

Film photography is magical, imperfect and nostalgic. The film has a unique aesthetic with beautiful grains, tonal range, and colours, creating truly emotional and timeless photos, that you can't reproduce with modern digital cameras.

“Oh my gosh. These pictures are better than anything we imagined!!! Literally stunning! We're both rewatching the reel and crying! You are truly a gifted photographer who made our day magical.”

WHY CHOOSE FILM PHOTOGRAPHY FOR YOUR SCOTLAND ELOPEMENT?

Film photography will slow you down.

In our fast-living world, the film medium brings back simplicity and slow mindfulness to photography. On digital, I can take hundreds of photos on an elopement day without realising the high amount of exposure - then I have to select the best ones for hours.

The film is more expensive these days, and each roll only allows 10-36 photos to take. So I have to use those shots wisely, forcing me to slow down and think more about composition, lighting and the perfect timing to take a photo. Also, I connect better with the couple I photograph; they can enjoy their elopement day slowed down. Film photography taught me to nail the right photo on the first attend, and I rarely delete any film photos.

“Wow Laszlo, those are absolutely perfect. We are both in tears watching. Thank you so so much for capturing our special day so perfectly.“
