ISLE OF SKYE ELOPEMENT ON THE QUIRAING
ARE YOU DREAMING OF ELOPING IN THE ISLE OF SKYE?
Julia & Goel`s spring Isle of Skye elopement was an absolute dream and one of the most intimate and emotional elopement I photographed in 2024 so far.
Julia and Goel travelled from Montana, the USA to the Misty Isle, aka Isle of Skye, to elope on the Quiraing.
On a stormy day, I guided them to a quiet corner on the rugged Trotternish Ridge to hold their intimate ceremony, that conducted by fantastic Gary the humanist. After their intimate ceremony, we visited a few other locations on the Isle of Skye, and I documented their love story - both on digital and 35mm & medium format film - until we got the last light of the day at the Eilean Donan Castle.
See a small selection of photos and more details below on how they beautiful autumnal Scottish elopement day unfolded.
ISLE OF SKYE ELOPEMENT IS TRULY ONE OF THE MOST ADVENTUROUS & BEST WAYS TO GET MARRIED IN SCOTLAND
Tell us a bit about you.
“Goel and I are not ones that enjoy being center of attention really, so an elopement was the only real thing that made sense for us. He chose the location, Scotland. I was to choose the date, as I am a bit more forgetful, picking the date to remember ensured a little bit more likelihood of me remembering it in the future.”
How did you find Weirdie Grizzly as your elopement photographer?
“I found Weirdie Grizzly (Laszlo) through Instagram. Well, really I searched Pinterest for elopement in Scotland inspiration. One of the blogs named several elopement photographers, and out of them his body of work really spoke to me. Everyone seemed relaxed, happy, genuine, and the landscapes as much of a focus as the couples (which I loved!).
After speaking via WhatsApp I couldn’t believe we got so lucky in finding Weirdie Grizzly. From packing our dress/suit, to lodging recommendations, to timeline of when and where to take photos, and the absolutely beautiful tartan serapes offered…he was so genuinely invested in our big day and we could feel that! ”

How did you choose your elopement photo shooting locations?
“I knew I wanted to be outside, despite knowing the weather was likely to be cool and rainy. One of our very first dates was a half day hike, and most of our favorite activities are outdoors. Our trips are always centered around where our feet will take us next, and finding the next unique spot off the beaten path.”
What was your favourite moment from your elopement day?
“It’s hard to choose a favorite moment from our elopement day, but it had to be standing on the Trotternish ridge, vowing my heart to my husband with the gorgeous views of the Quirang. If the wind hadn’t been stealing my breath away, the views would have! It was raw and wild and I can’t wait to return again.”
Do you have any advice for other couples?
“My advice to other couples, would be to book Laszlo without a second thought or another moment of waiting!”
