Allison & Grant's summer elopement was an absolute dream and one of the most intimate runaway weddings I photographed in 2024.
They contacted me about their dream elopement in Scotland in early 2023. Shortly after, we chatted online about their imaginations and how I could help them have their dream elopement on the Isle of Skye, and they booked me for their elopement photographer and planner.
Last June, they travelled from Alabama, USA, to the Misty Isle, aka the Isle of Skye, to elope on the Quiraing.
On a windy, overcast day in June, I guided Allison and Grant to a quiet corner on the rugged Trotternish Ridge to hold their intimate ceremony, followed by personal vows that touched them deeply. The location was magical and looked straight out of a fairytale. After their intimate ceremony, I guided them around the Quiraing and captured their happiness. We also visited a few other places on the Isle of Skye and finished the elopement day at the famous and historic Eilean Donan Castle in blue hour.
I documented their love story on digital and medium format film until we got the last light of the day.

Tell Us A Bit About You. (How did you meet and become a couple - everything about your love story and the plan of your Scotland elopement)
“ We met at our college orientation, Camp War Eagle. Allison walked into a big auditorium and Grant was sitting by himself, so Allison sat down to chat and we instantly hit it off. The following semester, we accidentally signed up for a Calculus class together and spent a lot of time together hanging out as friends. Allison had a chemistry class in the morning, and she would come to Grant's dorm every day to eat lunch and watch TV before Calculus. We stayed friends for about a year and a half until we decided we wanted to try to be together. We dated throughout the rest of college, only breaking up for one two-month stretch during Covid. We got back together, realizing being apart was very much not what we wanted. After graduating from college and both getting jobs in Huntsville, Alabama, we moved into an apartment together. After a year of that, we bought a house and settled in. A few months later, Grant proposed to Allison in Blue Ridge, Georgia on a vacation we took in the fall. “
How Did You Find Weirdie Grizzly Your Scotland Elopement Photographer?
“ Once we knew we wanted to get married in the Highlands, we googled "Scotland elopement photographers" and started searching. We narrowed it down to two or three photographers and ultimately decided we loved Laszlo's work the most, so we contacted him! “
How Did You Choose Your Elopement Shooting Locations in Scotland?
“ We knew we wanted to get married somewhere in the Highlands, but weren't sure exactly where until we met with Laszlo and he sent us his portfolio. He had a great spread of optional locations and timelines, so we just chose the one that was the most beautiful to us. “
What Was The Inspiration Behind Your Scotland Elopement Photo Session?
“ When we got engaged, we knew a big wedding with a ton of people just wasn't for us. Both of us get anxious in and in front of large crowds, so we knew we wanted to do something small and intimate- just us, a photographer, and a videographer. After talking to so many people that said "we wish we would have just eloped", we decided to take their advice. We looked at locations like the Swiss Alps, Greece, and New Zealand, but we ultimately fell in love with the Scottish Highlands. We are so thankful we did! After sharing the photos with friends and family, the most common comment we got was "you look so in love", and we don't think we could've had such a nice day where we felt so comfortable if we did it any other way. “
What Was Your Favourite Moment From your Isle of Skye Elopement Day?
“ Our favorite moment from the day was when we said our vows on the windy clifftop at the Quiraing. We have never experienced such strong winds, and it was a hilarious memory saying vows while the tears were not running down our faces, but instead out of our eyes and off the cliff due to the heavy winds. “
Do you have any Advice For Other Couples?
“ The best relationships come from open communication and good problem solving skills. When you feel like you aren't being heard or something happens that makes you mad at your partner, make the conscious choice to tackle the problem as a team. Most problems can be solved by just being open and honest and fostering that environment in your home. This takes time, so be patient with each other until you build those skills. Also, every day right when we both get home we hug for at least 30 seconds. It seriously helps! “
